Class 5 integrating indicators are chemical indicators (CI) designed by Quick Sterile to reach their endpoint response when exposed to critical variables time, temperature and the presence of steam

This class of chemical indicator provides the most thorough information about the effectiveness of steam sterilization cycles

Class 5 CIs must have three stated values at 121°C, 135°C and one temperature in between that mimic the death curve, or biological response, of the microorganisms inside a BI when exposed to ideal, saturated steam conditions

The stated value at 121°C/250°F must be greater than 16.5 minutes.
This stated value ensures that Class 5 CIs labelled for use in 132°C/270°F do not change too quickly or inappropriately at lower temperatures
Integrating indicators are designed to react with all critical variables
These can be used as internal chemical indicators in all packs and containers for pack control monitoring
They can also be used as an additional monitoring tool in order to be able to release loads that do not contain implants based on the appropriate Process Challenge Device
These indicators can also be used in implant loads if a biological indicator is run with the class 5 indicator
The load can not be released until the BI result is known except in emergencies
