Product DescriptionPEGs are used in creams lotions for its affinity for water ability to solubilize active ingredient. The humectant effect of PEG increases the ability of these creams and lotions to retain water while imparting a conditioning effect on the treated skin without producing the sensation of stickiness. It’s used in toothpaste for its ability to effect water concentration viscosity their by giving consistency to the application product stability. In soap bar the humectancy of PEG helps in drying out cracking. In soft hand cleansing paste PEGs helps in reducing the viscosity. In hair care products it helps as a wetting agent are easily washed off. They are also used as an anti-static agent as a plasticizer that will decrease the propensity of form a brittle film. Due to their non-volatile nature it’s suitable carriers for active ingredients in deodorants insect repellent sticks. It’s an effective binder for or effervescent denture cleaners. PEGs are extensively used as excipients in pharmaceutical formulation as Tablet Binding coating, Gelatin Capsules, ointment base, liquid medications, suppositories processing aid.
