Polyoxyethylene (20) sorbitan laureate is a non-ionic, viscous, yellow colour, oil-in-water co-emulsifier in liquid form. Its used to emulsify essential oil to formulate room spray, creams body lotion. It also has a soothing feel on the skin. Due to low eye irritation property its used in baby shampoo, body wash, toiletries, cosmetics ointment. Its also used as a wetting agent in flavoured mouth drops such as Ice drop. It also helps to provide a spreading feeling to other ingredient as SD alcohol mint Flavour. Its used as an excipient in the pharmaceutical application to stabilize emulsion suspension. Polysorbate 20 is miscible in water, ethanol, cottonseed oil, corn oil, ethyl acetate, methanol toluene. Its immiscible with mineral vegetable oil.
